The 2012 City Commissioner's election in Garnett will take place on April 3rd. Founder of GarnettLive.com, Preston Peine, has thrown his hat in the ring this time around. He is joined by the incumbent, Mike Norman, and two other challengers Mark Magner and Randy Kennard. The Anderson County Review has been providing weekly coverage of the campaign with this week's issue dawning the full color Spring Election Guide.
Mr. Peine has been very vocal on his Facebook Campaign Page in addition to the newspaper. These social networking efforts include on going discussions with many prominent business leaders. A few constituents have expressed reservations about posting in an open forum such as Facebook. In response, the website PrestonPeine.com now provides an Ask Your Candidate section, which is a simple form where voters can post questions or comments for Mr. Peine to respond to while maintaining their anonymity. |

If you like good food, good music and aren't afraid to laugh in public then don't miss tonight's Loft Talk Show live at The Coffee Loft in downtown Garnett. Special guest, singer/songwriter, Travis Marvin will be joined by Cornstock organizer Susan Wettstein. Get a taste of Travis' unique country music stylings before the big show next month.
This is a "can't miss" show with Tom Emerson, Past President and Treasurer of The Chamber Players Communitee Theatre, gracing the stage as well. Tom will be discussing the rich history of the CPCT troop as well as up coming shows at the local theater. Tom is a communitee leader and talented actor. It will be well worth the price of admission.
P.S. I did I mention this show, as always, is FREE? |

Local comedian, John Wilson, will be performing at The Coffee Loft tonight beginning at 6:30pm. Garnett Live! will be there with a live broadcast of the entire performance. However, you will want to come downtown for this one. There is live music on the square (it has already started) all evening along with multiple food vendors. With over 900 guests in town as part of the Bike Across Kansas it is sure to be a glorious crowd (translate: come early for if you want a seat). As always at The Loft, there is zero charge for admission and the entertainment on the square is also open to the public so you have no excuse to miss this event. |
